Usability Testing | What Went Right | What Went Wrong | Conclusions

Conclusions
The volunteers for the usability testing provided very thorough and constructive feedback and I cannot thank them enough. Although a larger testing pool would have been ideal, I feel I received excellent feedback on how to improve the project.

Regarding the goals of the thesis project (determining if the user enjoyed and retained historical information), I feel it is fair to say that overall there is a positive reaction to the integration of historical information into video games, but that there is still quite a bit of room for refinement and improvement in the presentation of that information.

It is obvious from the usability testing that there are better ways to present information that could be less distracting and more beneficial than straight text-to-screen. I feel that the most successful integration of trivia was through the use of character dialogue. Usable items that the user could control was also an effective, but less elegant solution. Lastly, the obligatory text messages beyond the users control may be the weakest way of integrating historical information.

Overall I was very pleased with the result of the project. All of the objectives of the thesis were accomplished and I was able to learn and experiment in an area of computer graphics design that was very unfamiliar to me.
